Prof. Zahi Hawass’s Statement

Professor K.A.C. Creswell’s work on Islamic Cairo is an indispensable tool for the restoration and conservation work going on in the city at the moment. It is also the basic resource for the study of Islamic architecture in Cairo. The Islamic Art Network of the Thesaurus Islamicus Foundation, the Rare Books and Special Collections Library, and the Sony Gallery are to be thanked for their effort in putting this show together, to honor the work of Prof. Creswell, and stress the need for constant attention to the marvels of Islamic Cairo.
