Nasr El Shennawi Honored at Adham Center Luncheon, Receives AUC Long-Service Award Mr. Nasr El Shennawi, assistant technical coordinator at the Adham Center, was recognized for 15 years of exemplary service and dedication to both the Center and the university at a lunch held in his honor at the Sony Gallery on March 16, 2003. El Shennawi joined the Adham Center as assistant technical coordinator in 1988 after acquiring a wide experience in journalism as an NBC assistant cameraman and administrative assistant to the director of the Middle East Times. From 1985 to 1988, he held the position of Assistant Librarian for the Hajj Research Center at Saudi Arabia's King Abdel Aziz University. During his years with the Adham Center, he has participated in a number of co-productions with other institutions, such as the 1991 CNN World Reports series, which he worked on as studio manager for post-production work, and the 1997 Open University project with Cairo University, in which he was involved as producer and studio manager. In his encomium, Center director Abdallah Schleifer hailed El-Shennawi's contribution to the Center, noting that his influence had been felt by generations of Adham Center students through his work, with Journalism and Mass Communication chair Dr. Hussein Amin and Adham Center technical coordinator Dr. Janet Sandle, on the Center's studio and other courses. In a ceremony watched by colleagues and relatives, Prof. Schleifer presented El Shennawi with a gold pocket watch as a token of the Center's esteem and regard. El Shennawi was subsequently honored along with other AUC staff members with long durations of service at a ceremony and luncheon organized by AUC's Human Resources Office. AUC Vice President Alexander Darling and AUC Provost Dr. Tim Sullivan participated at the ceremonies. |
