Adham Graduates Make Mark at MIU

The Adham Center has always provided the news field with professional TV journalists. Now, however, Center graduates have started to invade the academic arena. Seven graduates have worked at Misr International University (MIU), one of the new private universities established with the trend towards the privatization of education in Egypt. A pioneer, who started with the launching of the university, was Samaa El Kassaby ('93). Kassaby later finished her thesis in Leeds, UK and has now returned to teach Electronic News Gathering, Media Management, Documentaries, International Broadcasting, and other courses at MIU. Kassaby brought in Samar Bashat ('94), who used to be her colleague at MBC and is now reporting for Abu Dhabi TV. In 2001, Ghada El Nashar ('92) joined MIU to teach production and editing as well as techniques of camera operation. Azza Abdel Azim ('93), professor at Cairo university, taught special topics for broadcast on talk shows, while Hala Youssef-Lemmon ('92) taught scriptwriting and Heba Ghobashi ('94) taught ENG for one semester. Nihal Abdel Rahman, graduate of the Center's first class ('89), joined the faculty four years ago with a slightly different focus and is still teaching Public Relations and Advertising.
